Hawaii Basics... |
|
Hawaii conjures up visions of a
tropical paradise. From quiet Molokai to action-oriented Oahu, each
island has an atmosphere of its own.
The Hawaiian islands are perfect for surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving,
deep-sea fishing, hiking, riding outrigger canoes or catamarans, and
watching volcanoes erupt or whales breach. It's the place for sightseeing
from helicopters, sipping mai tais, Kona coffee, and enjoying macadamia
nuts or fresh, juicy pineapple. Beaches have white, black, and even green
sand, and if you know where to look, you can uncover hidden volcanic
swimming pools and ancient heiau (stone temples) and rock carvings.
Explore jungles on horseback or on foot, or sleep the day away beneath a
palm tree. When the tropical heat gets to you, retreat to a rustic cabin in
the cool mountains.

|
 |
Although there are 132 islands in
the state of Hawaii, only 4 of them have become highly popular tourist
destinations; Hawaii (The big island), Oahu, Kauai and Maui.
Two other islands that are gaining in popularity are
Molokai and Lanai.
